What Is IFSC Code?
The Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is an 11-character alphanumeric code used to identify bank branches participating in the NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS networks in India. It is unique to each bank branch.
IFSC Code Structure
Format: XXXX0YYYYYY
- First 4 characters - Bank code (e.g., SBIN for State Bank of India)
- 5th character - Always 0 (zero), reserved for future use
- Last 6 characters - Branch code that identifies the specific branch
